Los Angeles authorities have taken rapper Polo G into custody after a police raid at his residence on Wednesday, August 23. This development comes in the wake of a recent robbery case involving Polo G’s brother, Taurean Bartlett, also known as Trench Baby. The situation unfolded with unexpected twists and connections, leaving the rapper facing charges of possessing a short-barreled rifle.
The series of events commenced on August 15 when Taurean Bartlett was identified as a suspect in a robbery case that took place in Granada Hills, California. According to reports from the LAPD, the incident occurred during a music video shoot at Taurean’s residence. Allegedly, he brandished a handgun with an extended magazine and demanded that the victim transfer money to an undisclosed account.
As the investigation progressed, detectives secured an arrest warrant for Taurean, who was residing with his brother Polo G. On August 23, while executing the warrant, law enforcement officials discovered “numerous firearms” at Polo G’s home. This prompted the arrest of both siblings. Taurean Bartlett was charged with robbery, while Polo G faced charges related to the possession of a short-barreled rifle. Both were taken into custody and booked accordingly.
Polo G’s legal team has since responded to the arrest. His attorney, Bradford Cohen, emphasized that the arrest stemmed from the need to verify Polo G’s criminal record regarding firearm possession. Cohen confirmed that Polo G had no prior felony convictions and stated that any previous charges had been dismissed and were publicly documented.
Billboard reached out to Polo G’s representatives for further comments, though no response had been received at the time of publication.
The arrest and subsequent charges have drawn attention to the rapper’s legal situation and raised questions about the ongoing investigation. The unfolding events mark a significant turn for Polo G and his involvement in a complex legal scenario.
