Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had a touching encounter at the Invictus Games when they met a special support dog, bringing back memories of their recently lost pet.
On February 9, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the wheelchair curling event, where they were introduced to Thorn, a 3-year-old black Labrador retriever trained to provide mental health support for first responders in the Yukon.

The meeting was particularly emotional for the couple, as they recently lost their beloved rescue beagle, Guy.
Ali Harper, Thorn’s handler, shared how Harry was visibly moved by the encounter. “Harry came right over, sat down next to Thorn, kneeled down, and started petting him. He said how much he misses his dog and thanked us for what we do with Thorn,” Harper told People.
Meghan also took a moment to interact with the pup, gently petting him before posing for a group photo. The Duchess has long been an advocate for animal welfare and has spoken about the special bond she shares with her pets.
Just last month, Meghan paid tribute to Guy in an emotional Instagram post, reminiscing about how the beagle had been with her through major milestones, from her Suits days to becoming a mother.
Despite their recent loss, Harry and Meghan continue to be devoted pet lovers. They still share their home with their black Labrador, Pula, and another senior rescue beagle, Mamma Mia.
Their heartfelt moment with Thorn at the Invictus Games once again highlighted their deep love for animals and their commitment to supporting causes that promote mental health and well-being.
