The future of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, particularly their life in the United States, has recently come under scrutiny. Veteran royal correspondent Jennie Bond shared her insights on the matter, hinting at the possibility of a migration from the U.S. for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Ms. Bond suggested that while it’s plausible the couple might already be considering leaving America, she believes they may have “jumped the gun a bit.” For now, it seems Prince Harry and Meghan are taking a cautious approach.
According to Ms. Bond, the Sussexes are likely “waiting to see” how circumstances evolve. “My guess is that they will let the dust settle and see how things pan out — they seem very happy in their Californian lifestyle, and I’m sure they don’t want to unsettle their children unnecessarily,” she explained.
However, the couple’s recent acquisition of a property in Portugal, located in one of its most exclusive areas, provides them with a potential alternative. “They do now have a bolt hole in Portugal,” Ms. Bond revealed, adding that the property is likely more than just a simple retreat. “It’s undoubtedly a very beautiful property, and was maybe sourced by Eugenie’s husband, Jack.”
Should life in the U.S. become “tricky or uncomfortable,” Ms. Bond speculated that Europe could become a more prominent part of the family’s future. “Europe may see a little more of Harry and Meghan and their children,” she concluded.
For now, the Sussexes appear content with their Californian lifestyle, but their transatlantic connections suggest they’re keeping their options open for the future.
