Prince Harry gave fans a rare glimpse into the world of his children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, and how much they understand about the charitable work he and Meghan Markle do.
Appearing on Hasan Minhaj’s Doesn’t Know podcast on October 29, the Duke of Sussex discussed his and Meghan’s advocacy for social causes, including the harms of social media on kids, teens, and men — a topic they actively address through their Parents’ Network program.
During a rapid-fire segment, Minhaj asked Harry what his children think he does for work. The 44-year-old paused before replying, “You know, they know that we help other people, but they don’t know the background…”
He continued, sharing an adorable anecdote: “When daddy’s on a call, all they’re interested in is saying hi to the people on the call. Or they’re fascinated to see other people, they love seeing familiar faces. But they will run in… they just barge in and jump on the phone, like, ‘Hi guys!’”
Harry’s comments shed light on how he balances parenting with public life. Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020 and moving to the United States with Meghan, Archie was just one year old, and Lilibet would be born a year later.
The Duke of Sussex has remained active in several initiatives, including men’s mental health advocacy and the Invictus Games, which he founded in 2014 for wounded veterans. Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan’s Archewell Foundation — launched in 2020 — supports charitable causes and includes a production arm with partnerships like Netflix.
The Sussex children have also taken an interest in their mother’s work. Meghan recently shared behind-the-scenes moments from her Netflix series With Love (Season 2), showing Archie with a clapperboard and Lilibet in a director’s chair during filming.
Harry’s candid reflection demonstrates the couple’s approach to raising their children with awareness of philanthropy, while still letting them enjoy the simple joys of childhood.
