Prince Harry’s arrival in Tokyo alongside his close friend and polo player Nacho Figueras has created a buzz, and he wasted no time sharing his initial thoughts upon touching down in the country.
In his first official statement after landing in Tokyo, the Duke of Sussex openly conveyed his sentiments regarding his solo journey to the nation. As he stepped off the plane, a reporter off-camera posed a question to Harry: “How does it feel to be in Japan for the first time in four years?” In response, the Duke replied with a warm, “Good to see you again.”
The purpose behind Harry’s visit to Japan involves his participation in the ISPS (International Sports Promotion Society) Sports Values Summit scheduled for the following day. As part of the summit, he will engage in a panel discussion alongside notable figures such as former New Zealand rugby player Dan Carter, Sentebale chair Sophie Chandauka, Invictus Games gold medallist Steve James, and Professor Wim de Villiers, the Rector of South Africa’s Stellenbosch University.
Furthermore, in collaboration with his Argentinian companion Nacho Figueras, Prince Harry will partake in his annual fundraising polo match in Japan. The event holds a special purpose, focusing on assisting disadvantaged youth affected by HIV/AIDS.
Addressing the significance of the Polo Cup, Harry stated, “The annual Polo Cup is essential to Sentebale’s vital work ensuring children and young people are healthy, resilient, and able to thrive. The funds raised this year will support our clubs and camps programme, which provides intensive psychosocial support to young people living with HIV. In a time where being HIV positive is no longer a death sentence, we are empowering young people to know their status, stay healthy, and eliminate the stigma so that they can break the cycle.”
This visit follows closely on the heels of the news that Prince Harry and Meghan have secured the rights to the popular romantic novel “Meet Me At The Lake” for a reported £3 million. The couple’s ongoing endeavors continue to garner attention and bring their initiatives to the forefront of public awareness.
