Prince Harry again makes headlines after facing a new setback with Sentebale, the charity he co-founded to honor his late mother, Princess Diana. The Duke of Sussex, who recently announced he would step down as the charity’s patron, has encountered additional turmoil as one of the newly appointed trustees resigned just days after taking on the role.
Trustee Resignation Rocks Sentebale Amid Ongoing Controversies
Margaret Ikpoh, who was appointed as a trustee on March 25, has already resigned from her position, signaling ongoing challenges within the organization. Her resignation comes at a time when Sentebale is under intense scrutiny due to an investigation by the Charity Commission into allegations of bullying.

Sentebale issued a statement addressing the resignation, stating, “This is a particularly difficult time to have joined the organization, given the unexpected sustained and intrusive media attention. Margaret has chosen to step down out of respect for her family and other professional commitments, and we fully understand, respect, and support her decision.”
Sentebale’s Mission and Recent Struggles
Founded in 2006 by Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, Sentebale was created to support children and adolescents who have been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS, particularly in Lesotho and Botswana. The charity’s name, “Sentebale,” means “forget-me-not” in the Sesotho language, reflecting its goal to provide ongoing care and support to the most vulnerable communities.
However, the charity has recently faced internal challenges. Both Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso resigned as patrons of Sentebale last month following a dispute with the charity’s board. This dispute stemmed from a conflict between the trustees and chairwoman Sophie Chandauka, resulting in the request for her resignation.
Sentebale’s Legacy and Ongoing Support for Vulnerable Children
Despite these difficulties, Sentebale remains dedicated to its mission of helping children affected by HIV/AIDS. The charity continues to support vulnerable communities in southern Africa, providing vital resources and care for children and adolescents battling the disease.
Prince Harry and his team have emphasized that while recent challenges have tested the organization, their commitment to the cause remains steadfast. The charity’s work remains critical, and despite the internal conflicts, Sentebale’s programs continue to offer hope and support to the children it serves.
