Prince Harry’s US Visa Under Scrutiny Amid Deportation Debate

Prince Harry’s future in the United States is currently uncertain, as new details surrounding his US visa application are being released. This development comes after a judge ordered the disclosure of information regarding the Duke of Sussex’s visa status, igniting discussions about his potential deportation.

The issue stems from Harry’s admissions of illegal drug use in his memoir Spare, which was released in January 2023. These confessions have raised questions about his eligibility to remain in the country, sparking the ongoing debate about his US residency.

Washington Judge Carl Nichols has issued an order for the release of the details surrounding the investigation into Harry’s visa. The case has attracted significant attention as it involves not only the Duke’s legal standing but also the broader issue of how the US handles visa applications from public figures with a history of drug use.

In response to the latest developments, Greg Swenson, Chairman of Republicans Overseas UK, has urged Harry to leave the United States voluntarily to avoid further complications or potential court proceedings. Swenson believes that Harry’s best course of action would be to avoid a legal battle over his residency.

However, royal commentator Benjamin Butterworth rejected the idea that Harry would be deported by the current US administration. On GB News, he stated, “We know that he’s not going to look to deport him.” He added, “If the US were to deny visas to public figures for discussing drug use, half the pop stars wouldn’t be here,” highlighting the perceived inconsistency in visa regulations for celebrities and public figures.

Carole Malone, another expert, expressed her thoughts on the issue, noting that the US had been much stricter on entry requirements in the past. However, she acknowledged that it would likely frustrate many ordinary people who had been denied entry for similar reasons.

Despite the ongoing concerns, former President Donald Trump has already dismissed suggestions that he would support the deportation of Prince Harry. In an interview with the New York Post in February, Trump said, “I’ll leave him alone,” signaling that he had no intention of pursuing Harry’s removal from the country.

Interestingly, while the investigation into Harry’s visa was officially closed in September 2023, reports have emerged that the matter was reopened shortly after Trump assumed office as the new President. This reopening has fueled speculation and has kept the issue of Harry’s status in the US alive in the media.

As of now, the future of Prince Harry’s residency in the United States remains uncertain, with much still dependent on the ongoing legal proceedings. Whether or not the Duke of Sussex will be forced to leave or continue his life in the US will likely become clearer in the coming months as more developments unfold.
