More than a year after the release of a hotel surveillance video showing Sean “Diddy” Combs assaulting his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, shocking new testimony has revealed how the music mogul reacted when the footage surfaced.
The disturbing clip, recorded in 2016 but made public in May 2024 by CNN, showed Combs physically attacking Cassie in a Los Angeles hotel. The footage quickly went viral, prompting outrage and fueling public scrutiny into the numerous allegations the artist is now facing.
During the fifth week of Combs’ federal sex trafficking trial, a former girlfriend—identified in court as Jane Doe—took the stand and gave detailed testimony about the moment Combs found out the video had been released.

Jane described the atmosphere as “eerie” and unsettling. She recalled being in bed with Combs when he received the news, after which he immediately jumped into action. According to her, he began coordinating with his inner circle to devise a response that would contain the fallout.
“They were scrambling to come up with a sincere-sounding apology,” she said, noting that the energy in the room shifted instantly as he focused on managing the public reaction.
Shortly after the footage aired, Combs posted an apology video on Instagram—which has since been deleted—where he admitted to his actions. “I hit rock bottom,” he said in the clip. “There’s no excuse for my behavior.”
However, Jane told the court that the apology lacked genuine remorse. “It felt hollow,” she said. “There was no heart in it.”
This testimony adds a new layer to the growing case against Combs, who is currently facing multiple legal battles, including federal charges linked to abuse, trafficking, and misconduct.
The trial continues, with more witnesses expected to testify as the investigation digs deeper into Combs’ history and behavior behind closed doors.
