Sean Diddy Combs has filed a lawsuit against NBC, alleging that the network’s recent documentary unfairly portrays him as a criminal and damages his reputation. The 55-year-old music mogul, currently held in a Brooklyn jail, is pushing back against what he calls “malicious and baseless” claims in the film.
Filed on Wednesday, February 12, the lawsuit states that the documentary attempts to “crudely psychologize” Combs, portraying him as a “monster” and comparing him to Jeffrey Epstein. Legal documents obtained by Page Six reveal that the lawsuit criticizes the film for making “unfounded accusations” without evidence.
One of the most controversial claims in the documentary is that Combs was involved in the death of “the love of his life and mother to his children.” However, the lawsuit asserts that there is “no evidence of foul play” and argues that the allegations are being used to push a sensationalized narrative.
“By maliciously advancing the unhinged narrative that Mr. Combs is a serial killer—with absolutely no evidence or logic to stand on—Defendants spread fake news of the most damaging kind,” the legal document states.
Combs’ legal team also claims that they had warned NBC and the production company Ample in December, stating that the allegations were “unequivocally false” and “debunked.” Despite these warnings, the documentary and its trailer were released, allegedly causing “substantial reputational and financial harm.”
Furthermore, the lawsuit argues that the documentary’s release is interfering with Combs’ right to a fair trial.
As legal proceedings move forward, the case has sparked intense debate, with some supporting Combs’ legal action while others believe the documentary sheds light on troubling allegations.
