Selena Gomez is getting candid about love, personal growth, and navigating conflict in her relationship with fiancé Benny Blanco.
In an exclusive appearance on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast, the singer and actress discussed the lessons she has learned from past relationships and shared valuable insights on resolving disagreements in a healthy way.
Healing Before Love
The Love On singer revealed that she initially hesitated to enter a relationship with Blanco, feeling she needed time to heal from past experiences before fully committing.
“I think in the past, that’s why I said to him all the time 10 years ago—it’s not that I wouldn’t have wanted to be with you, I just wouldn’t have been in the right headspace, and I don’t think you deserved what I had gone through before,” Gomez shared.
She emphasized the importance of self-growth and learning from past mistakes before diving into a new chapter of love.
“I’ve learned a lot of lessons, and I’ve made mistakes. I just want this to be right. So for me, that was a lesson that I had to learn,” she added.
A Love That Grew Over Time
Gomez and Blanco’s relationship has been a topic of interest for fans, as the two started dating in 2023 before getting engaged in December 2024. Their bond, built on trust and understanding, continues to inspire many.
As Gomez embraces this new chapter in her life, she remains focused on fostering a relationship grounded in communication, growth, and mutual respect—an approach that she hopes others can learn from as well.
