Colombian singer Shakira is reportedly breathing a sigh of relief as her stalker, who falsely asserted to be her husband, has been taken into custody. The alleged stalker, 56-year-old Daniel John Valtier, was arrested outside the artist’s Miami Beach home on Monday, facing charges of stalking.
According to reports from Billboard, Valtier persisted in delivering gifts such as wine and chocolates to Shakira, even after her security team had warned him about the consequences. During his trial in court on Tuesday, the stalker continued to maintain the delusional belief that he was married to the 46-year-old singing sensation, stating, “She is my wife, I speak to her all the time.”
In response to these bizarre claims, the judge unequivocally declared, “She is not your wife,” and ordered Valtier to cease stalking Shakira. The arrest followed an alarming post on Instagram by Valtier, where he indicated his intention to visit the singer’s home. Shakira’s security team, noticing the post, promptly detained him when he was observed outside the celebrity’s residence.
This incident serves as a cautionary tale about the challenges celebrities face with obsessive individuals and the importance of robust security measures to protect their privacy and well-being.
