Squid Game star Lee Byung-hun, famed for his chilling portrayal of the mysterious Front Man, recently shared a heartfelt story about how his 10-year-old son reacted to learning about his ruthless character. The South Korean actor opened up during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon about the challenges of balancing his intense on-screen role with his family life.

Byung-hun explained that neither his son nor his 18-month-old daughter are allowed to watch Squid Game due to its mature content. “They’re not supposed to watch Squid Game,” he said during the interview.

Despite this, his son found out about the dark nature of his character through school friends. “One day, he looked really sad and asked me, ‘Why are you so mean?’” recalled Byung-hun.

A Son’s Confusion Over On-Screen Violence

His son was particularly upset after learning that the Front Man was responsible for killing many characters on the show. “You killed a lot of people,” his son told him, visibly distressed.

Byung-hun shared that his son was especially close to T.O.P, the actor who played a character in Squid Game Season 2. “He asked me, ‘Why did you hit him so bad, Dad?’” explained Byung-hun.

Trying to clarify, Byung-hun told his son, “I’m an actor,” but admitted, “I think he doesn’t understand 100 percent.”

Jimmy Fallon responded with a laugh, saying, “No, good for him. He should be a 10-year-old!”
