As “Stranger Things” prepares to embark on its fifth and final season, creators Matt and Ross Duffer have offered a glimpse into what awaits fans of the Netflix phenomenon.
In an interview with The Guardian, Matt Duffer hinted that Season 5 would be the most significant yet, reminiscent of the scale that propelled the show to popularity in its original season.
While the possibility of spin-offs looms, Matt confirmed that the stories of central characters Eleven, Dustin, Lucas, and Hopper would find their resolution in Season 5, signaling a conclusion to their arcs in the final season.
Matt explained, “And, yes, there may be spin-offs, but the story of Eleven and Dustin and Lucas and Hopper, their stories are done here. That’s it…”
However, Matt suggested an alternative for fans seeking more content – an upcoming Stranger Things play titled “The First Shadow.”
“Outside of the play, I mean. So if you want to see more of some of them, go see the play.”
The play acts as a prequel, exploring the arrival of young Henry Creel, also known as Vecna, in Hawkins. It will feature younger versions of familiar characters like Joyce and Hopper navigating high school simultaneously.
Produced under the Duffers’ new company, Upside Down Pictures, “The First Shadow” stands as the first confirmed spin-off project.
