SZA, the acclaimed singer-songwriter, has delivered a strong message against individuals who leak her unfinished music, emphasizing the serious consequences of such actions. In a recent post on her X account (formerly Twitter), the 34-year-old artist left no room for ambiguity as she declared that leaking her music constitutes theft of her intellectual property and vowed to pursue legal action.
The all-caps statement made her position crystal clear: “LEAKING MY MUSIC IS STEALING. THIS IS MY JOB. THIS IS MY LIFE AND MY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY.” SZA did not mince words in labeling those responsible as “F***ING THIEF” and expressed her determination to hold them accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
Despite having addressed the issue in the past, the “Kill Bill” singer’s recent post carried a more direct threat of legal consequences. Expressing her exhaustion at dealing with the recurring problem, SZA concluded her message with a heartfelt, “I AM TIRED.”
SZA has consistently spoken out about the negative impact of leaked music on her creative process. In a conversation with Variety in November 2023, she explained, “When people leak my songs, they ruin them. Then it’s not mine anymore; it’s actually yours. It’s something unfinished that you decided was ready to be shared. And it’s like, f*** you. Now I’m not releasing it. Play your leak, but you’re not gonna bully me into dropping music.”
With this recent warning, SZA makes it evident that she is committed to safeguarding her artistic work and will not tolerate any violation of her intellectual property rights.
