Taylor Swift Accused of Intellectual Property Theft by Poet Teresa La Dart Marasco

Taylor Swift, known for her deeply poetic lyrics, has recently found herself at the center of an unexpected legal dispute. Florida-based poet Teresa La Dart Marasco has accused the pop sensation of borrowing her poetry across multiple albums, claiming a pattern of intellectual property theft.

Marasco filed the complaint earlier this month, alleging that Swift and her production company used her work in songs from albums including Lover, Folklore, Midnights, and The Tortured Poets Department. According to Marasco, the similarities between her poetry and Swift’s lyrics are undeniable, and the case has raised concerns about the singer’s creative process.

Despite the filing, Marasco has struggled to get in touch with Swift to deliver the legal documents. Reports from Marco.com suggest that efforts to reach the Anti-Hero hitmaker have been unsuccessful, leaving the case in limbo. The poet also referenced a similar case she filed in 2023, where she faced the same issue of being unable to locate Swift, resulting in no progress on that front.

The alleged infringement came to light after Marasco attended one of Swift’s Eras Tour performances. According to the poet, it was during the concert that she first noticed the similarities between Swift’s lyrics and her own poetry. This discovery prompted her to revisit Swift’s earlier work, where she claims to have found more examples of her poetry being used without permission.

Marasco’s lawsuit claims that this pattern of intellectual property theft has been ongoing, involving multiple albums from Swift’s discography. While Swift’s legal team has dismissed the allegations, neither the singer nor her representatives have made any direct comment on the situation, leaving many questions unanswered.

This legal drama comes at a time when Swift is already involved in a separate case involving her friend Blake Lively. Lively has filed a lawsuit against actor Justin Baldoni, and sources suggest that the ongoing legal battle has caused a rift between the two friends. Swift has reportedly distanced herself from the situation, adding another layer of complexity to her personal and professional life.

As the case continues, fans and industry insiders alike are watching closely to see how it unfolds. With both Swift’s creative legacy and Marasco’s claims at stake, this legal battle may have broader implications for artists and intellectual property rights in the music industry.
