Taylor Swift faced an unexpected moment at Super Bowl 2025 when she was met with boos from the crowd at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9.
The pop superstar attended the game to support her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, as his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, took on the Philadelphia Eagles. However, when her face appeared on the jumbotron, a noticeable wave of boos erupted from the audience. Despite the reaction, Swift remained composed and laughed off the moment.
Body language expert Judi James shared insights with Mirror UK, noting that Swift’s response mirrored Ryan Gosling’snow-famous side-eye gesture from the Critics’ Choice Awards.
“Taylor seemed to be copying the iconic Ryan Gosling’s side-eye gesture, with her ‘What?’ ritual of distrust, shock, and bewilderment,” James explained.
However, she pointed out the contrast:
“While Ryan had just won an award, Taylor had just been booed on the jumbotron—right after Trump received cheers.”
James praised Swift for handling the situation gracefully, remaining seated next to Ice Spice and avoiding any dramatic reaction.

“She managed to smile and subtly laugh it off. This isn’t her first experience with boos, as some fans initially worried she might distract Travis from his game.”
Another body language expert, Darren Stanton, offered his analysis to TYLA, highlighting Swift’s initial shock and discomfort when the boos began.
“At the moment the crowd started booing, Taylor’s eyes widened. We saw a combination of shock, disbelief, and slight embarrassment,” he noted.
Though Swift attempted to brush off the reaction with a laugh, Stanton believes the moment caught her off guard and hit a nerve.
Despite the mixed crowd response, Swift continued to enjoy the game, proving once again that she knows how to handle public scrutiny with confidence and poise.
