Taylor Swift Set to Star as Whitney Houston’s Character in The Bodyguard Remake

Taylor Swift is reportedly in the final stages of securing the role of Rachel Marron in the highly anticipated remake of The Bodyguard, a role made legendary by Whitney Houston in the 1992 classic. According to an insider speaking to The Daily Mail, negotiations are nearly complete, with Taylor set to contribute music to the film as well, making this a multi-faceted project for the singer-turned-actress.

While details are still being finalized, several big names have been linked to the project, including Brad Pitt, Ben Affleck, and Tom Cruise, who has an agreement with Warner Bros. The remake of the beloved film will see Taylor Swift take on the iconic role of Rachel Marron, the singer and actress originally portrayed by Whitney Houston, while Kevin Costner’s role as the bodyguard, Frank Farmer, is yet to be officially cast.

Excitement around the project has only grown with news that Sam Wrench, director of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, will helm the remake. Swift’s involvement in the film would mark a significant return to acting after her role in the 2019 film Cats, a major commercial flop. However, the experience didn’t leave her with any regrets. Reflecting on her time working on Cats, Taylor expressed appreciation for the opportunity, saying, “I had a really great time working on that weird-ass movie. I’m not gonna retroactively decide that it wasn’t the best experience.”

She further explained her positive outlook: “I never would have met Andrew Lloyd Webber or gotten to see how he works, and now he is my buddy. I got to work with the sickest dancers and performers. No complaints.”

The script for the The Bodyguard remake will be written by Jonathan Abrams, who worked on Clint Eastwood’s Juror #2.

Fans are eager to see how Taylor Swift brings her unique touch to the role of Rachel Marron, blending her musical talents and acting experience for what promises to be an exciting new chapter in her career.
