Taylor Swift has once again made history. The 34-year-old pop sensation performed the eighth show of her Eras Tour at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium on Tuesday, August 20, setting a new record for the most performances by a solo artist at the venue during a single tour. Swift’s achievement surpasses the previous record held by Michael Jackson, who played seven nights at Wembley during his Bad tour in 1988.
During her performance, Swift acknowledged the milestone, telling the crowd, “You just made me the first solo artist to ever play Wembley eight times in a single tour. We will never, ever be able to thank you enough for it,” as reported by BBC News.
The show also marked the conclusion of the European leg of the Eras Tour, with Swift being joined on stage by some special guests, including Bleachers’ frontman Jack Antonoff, 40, and British singer Florence Welch, 37. Antonoff, a longtime collaborator and close friend of Swift, performed “Death by a Thousand Cuts” from her Lover album and “Getaway Car” from Reputation with the superstar, while Welch and Swift delighted the audience with a live performance of their song “Florida!!!” for the first time.
Reflecting on her success and the friendships that have shaped her music career, Swift expressed her gratitude to the audience: “I think a lot about why I’m lucky enough to get to do a show like the Eras Tour, and it’s because I’ve been fortunate enough to find friendships over the years that have been incredible collaborative and creative [forces]. I get to make music with one of my best friends in the world, and he’s here tonight.”
Swift and Antonoff’s creative partnership has produced some of her most beloved songs, including “Cruel Summer” and tracks from her Grammy-winning albums 1989, Folklore, and Midnights. Antonoff also co-wrote and produced Swift’s hit single “Anti-Hero,” released in 2022.
As the European leg of her tour wraps up, Swift is preparing to bring the Eras Tour back to the United States. Fans can look forward to seeing her perform next at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on October 18, where she will be joined by rising star Gracie Abrams.
Swift’s record-breaking achievement at Wembley further cements her status as one of the most influential and successful artists of her generation.
