Pop superstar Taylor Swift offered fans a first glimpse into her highly anticipated 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, during a candid appearance on Travis Kelce’s podcast, New Heights, alongside his brother Jason Kelce on August 13.
The 35-year-old singer-songwriter discussed the creative inspiration behind the project, describing it as a window into “everything that was going on behind the curtain.” While she didn’t reveal all the details, Swift hinted at themes ranging from breakups and past heartbreaks to falling in love with her current boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
Swift explained her goal for the album: she wanted it to be “so infectious that listeners are almost angry at it,” while maintaining lyrics that are “vivid, crisp, focused, and completely intentional.”

The Grammy winner admitted she went “all out” in creating the album. “I was so proud of the music and so excited about this project from a creative standpoint, that I was just like ‘all hands on deck, we’re going all out, this is a full send,’” Swift said. “I care about this record more than I can even overstate.”
Travis Kelce, who had early access to the tracks, shared his excitement about the album. “It’s a lot more upbeat. It’s a lot more fun, pop, excitement, and I think it’s a complete 180 from a lot of the songs on [The Tortured Poet’s Department], for sure,” he said. Swift confirmed that her current life is more upbeat, which influenced the energetic tone of the album.
Fans won’t have to wait long to hear the full project, as The Life of a Showgirl is set to release on October 3, 2025.
