Screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna embraces fan excitement as production buzz builds for the highly anticipated sequel
The fashion world is once again abuzz as “The Devil Wears Prada 2” begins filming, and fans are making their presence known. From the sidewalks of New York to the entrances of designer boutiques, crowds are gathering to catch even a fleeting glimpse of the returning cast—including Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci.

Screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, who penned the original 2006 hit, is welcoming the attention. In a recent interview with IndieWire, she shared her perspective on the overwhelming fan response.
“People will stand outside just for a glimpse of these actors and these characters that they love,” McKenna said. “Seeing them in wardrobe has really excited people, especially since it’s a fashion movie.”
While some industry insiders have expressed concern over potential plot leaks from on-set photos, McKenna sees the bigger picture: the passionate fanbase.
“We knew there would be a lot of interest,” she added. “I personally hadn’t experienced this level of people coming out [to the set], but it’s the world we live in… What an honor that people are still interested.”
In July, 20th Century Studios unveiled the first official images from the sequel, spotlighting Hathaway’s return as Andy Sachs. Since then, fan-shot photos and behind-the-scenes glimpses have flooded social media, with particular excitement surrounding scenes filmed outside upscale designer stores.
The sequel promises to revisit the glamorous but cutthroat world of high fashion. Reports reveal that the plot will center around Miranda Priestly, played by Streep, as she grapples with the decline of the traditional magazine industry. Her character is said to enter a tense power struggle with Emily Charlton—Blunt’s character—now a powerful luxury brand executive who holds the advertising influence Miranda needs to survive.
Director David Frankel, who helmed the original film, returns to guide the sequel, ensuring continuity in tone and style.
With such a strong creative team and a nostalgic yet relevant storyline, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about releases in recent memory.
