‘The Nun’ Actress Bonnie Aarons Allegedly Files Lawsuit Against Warner Bros. Over Unpaid Revenue

Bonnie Aarons, renowned for her portrayal in the horror film “The Nun,” has reportedly initiated legal proceedings against Warner Bros, alleging that the entertainment giant has not honored their contractual obligations regarding her rightful share of earnings.

Despite the remarkable success of “The Nun,” which raked in an impressive $365 million while being produced on a budget of $22 million, Aarons’ compensation appears to have fallen short of expectations. The actress purportedly received a sum of $71,500 for her role, a figure that notably excluded the box office bonus stipulated in her contract.

The crux of Aarons’ lawsuit, as stated in The Hollywood Reporter, lies in her assertion that Warner Bros. has not adhered to transparent financial practices. Instead, she alleges, the studio has obscured the true extent of her deserved merchandising revenues while simultaneously continuing to benefit from her contributions.

According to her legal filings, Aarons contends that Warner Bros. breached the terms of their agreement by providing her with a pro-rata share of just 5% from 50% of the total gross merchandising earnings. India Today, in its reporting, underlines Aarons’ disappointment with the studio’s actions, underscoring her sentiment that their behavior has eroded the trust she initially vested in them, owing to their concealment of accurate merchandise revenue details.

Released in 2018, “The Nun” is an integral part of “The Conjuring Universe,” captivating audiences with its eerie narrative revolving around the ominous character Valak—a demonic nun whose presence haunts the film.

Bonnie Aarons’ legal action serves as a window into the intricate landscape of revenue distribution in the entertainment industry. The case underscores the significance of transparent and equitable contractual agreements, highlighting the need for clear communication and fair compensation for all parties involved in the creative process.
