The Weeknd, born Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, is set to take on a thrilling new role in the psychological thriller Hurry Up Tomorrow, alongside actress Jenna Ortega. Marking his acting debut in a leading role, The Weeknd not only starred in the film but also played a significant part in developing the script. The film is named after his critically acclaimed sixth studio album, adding an extra layer of anticipation for fans.

Lionsgate, the film’s distributor, recently dropped the first look at The Weeknd in character, and it’s already creating a buzz. The intense still reveals the 34-year-old singer appears to experience a mental breakdown, offering a chilling preview of his performance in the upcoming flick. The caption accompanying the first look reads: “Why won’t you let me go? #HurryUpTomorrow // 5.16.25,” further heightening the mystery surrounding the film’s plot.

Fans are eagerly anticipating The Weeknd’s debut as a leading man in film. Many took to social media to express their excitement, with one fan commenting, “This is about to be the greatest show on earth,” while another simply wrote, “Can’t wait.”

Directed by Trey Edward Shults, Hurry Up Tomorrow tells the story of a musician who struggles with insomnia and becomes entangled with a stranger who forces him to confront the deepest parts of his existence.
