TikTok influencer Zahra has lauded Angelina Jolie’s steadfast commitment to women’s empowerment and called upon the Hollywood star to use her influential voice to champion the cause of oppressed Afghan women.

Speaking at VidCon’s Girl Power panel, Zahra, an Afghan American internet personality, expressed her deep respect and admiration for Angelina Jolie’s unwavering support for Afghan women. She highlighted the significance of influential women in popular culture leveraging their platforms to advocate for meaningful causes.

Angelina Jolie, 48, has a long-standing history of actively advocating for the education and rights of Afghan women. Notably, in 2001, she generously donated $1 million to aid Afghan refugees in response to a United Nations plea.

Last year, as a former Special U.N. envoy, Angelina Jolie penned a powerful and critical piece denouncing the Taliban on the first anniversary of their takeover of Kabul. Her article, published in Time magazine, celebrated the strength, resilience, and resourcefulness of Afghan women who persevere in their pursuit of education despite oppressive circumstances.

Angelina Jolie asserted that Afghan women represent an invaluable asset for their country and the global community, emphasizing that the full participation of women is indispensable for both the economy and society as a whole. She argued that attempts to confine Afghan women to traditional roles are ultimately destined to fail.
