Hollywood action star Tom Hardy is returning to the screen in Netflix’s highly anticipated action-thriller Havoc, and he’s already making headlines with behind-the-scenes revelations about the film’s intense production.
In an exclusive interview with Radio Times, the Venom actor opened up about one of the toughest scenes he filmed — the now-infamous “Medusa fight scene.” Despite his experience in high-octane roles, Hardy admitted that this particular shoot pushed him to the edge — not because of the choreography, but because of the sweltering heat.
“I was layered up — a thermal, a wool shirt, and a T-shirt — in the middle of summer,” said Hardy, 47. “After just 10 minutes of throwing punches, I turned to Gareth [Evans, the director] and said, ‘I’m not going to make it through the day.’”

Hardy eventually got creative with his wardrobe to power through the scene. “We cut the sleeves off, I wore a bolero-style shirt with just two buttons, added a Patagonia fleece, and stuffed an ice pack down my back,” he laughed. “It worked — but before that, I was struggling.”
The Mad Max: Fury Road star humorously compared himself to a “Muppet suit in the sunlight” by the time the intense sequence wrapped.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Gareth Evans (The Raid), Havoc promises non-stop action and gritty storytelling. The film follows a bruised detective as he fights through a criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s estranged son after a drug deal goes wrong.
Havoc is set to premiere on Netflix on April 25, and with Hardy’s dedication to the role already creating buzz, fans are eagerly counting down the days.
