Tom Hardy has emphasized the significance of a crossover between two of the most popular superheroes: Venom and Spider-Man. Known for his iconic portrayal of Eddie Brock in the Venom franchise, the 47-year-old actor recently shared his thoughts on why such a collaboration would resonate with audiences, particularly young fans.
In an interview, Hardy explained that while adults enjoy superhero films, it’s children who are especially impacted by these characters. “For me, it would be for the kids. As much as adults love superhero films—and you can tell by the box office when they’re successful—I’m constantly reminded by children how important these characters are to them,” Hardy said.
He continued, “They don’t understand why their favorite characters aren’t in films together,” explaining that younger audiences are eager to see their beloved heroes unite on the big screen.

During the interview on The Discourse Podcast by The Playlist, Hardy also revealed that a Venom-Spider-Man collaboration was nearly realized. “We got as close as I could possibly imagine, apart from actually making the film together, which I would have loved because that just means so much fun,” he shared.
Fans of both characters were thrilled when the idea of a crossover surfaced, but it has yet to come to fruition. Hardy’s most recent Venom film, Venom: The Last Dance (2024), featured Rhys Ifans, Juno Temple, and Clark Backo. As the Venom franchise continues to thrive, the hope for a Spider-Man and Venom team-up remains alive among fans.
With such passion from Hardy and fans alike, the anticipation for a crossover film remains high, as many hope for a future where both characters share the screen.
