Vin Diesel has excited Fast & Furious fans with a major revelation about the franchise’s future, hinting that a new film is in development—potentially arriving before Fast X: Part 2.
The last installment, Fast X, hit theaters in 2023, introducing Jason Momoa as the menacing antagonist Dante Reyes. The film left fans with a suspenseful cliffhanger, raising questions about what’s next for Dominic Toretto and his crew.
Now, Diesel has teased that another Fast project is in the works, which will serve as a precursor to the highly anticipated finale.
Vin Diesel Set to Direct a Prequel to the Finale
In a recent Instagram post, the 57-year-old actor reflected on a previous request from the studio to direct a short film bridging the gap between the first and fourth movies.

“The studio asked me to direct the precursor to the film, to explain where Dom had been in between the first and the fourth film. It was called Los Bandoleros,” Diesel wrote.
He then revealed that history is repeating itself.
“Now, all these years later, the request has come in again for me to direct the precursor to the finale.”
Hints at Exotic Filming Locations
While Diesel did not disclose specific details about the project’s plot or release timeline, he hinted at grand-scale production and international filming.
“Because it is now the world’s saga, I am encouraged to film somewhere else, truly exotic…” he teased.
The mention of “exotic” locations has fueled speculation that the film could be shot in desert landscapes, similar to Furious 7, which featured breathtaking sequences filmed in the Middle East.
As fans eagerly await more details, this unexpected update has reignited excitement for what’s to come in the Fast & Furious universe.
