Zendaya recently shared what it’s like to work alongside her boyfriend, Tom Holland, in an interview for Vanity Fair’s Hollywood Issue. The Challengers actress reflected on their dynamic on set, especially after starring together in three Spider-Man films. For Zendaya, acting with Holland feels as natural as it does reassuring.
When asked if it ever feels strange to be filming opposite Holland, Zendaya responded, “It’s actually ‘strangely comfortable’ with him.” She explained, “It’s like second nature, if anything. You feel extra safe with the person you’re acting beside. I love working with him.”
Zendaya, who also stars in Dune: Part Two, went on to praise Holland’s dedication to his craft, adding, “He’s so talented and passionate about what he does. He always gives one thousand percent, even when he’s completely worn out. I really appreciate that about him.” She then shared that their on-screen chemistry feels natural, recalling, “That’s how we met—literally, at a chemistry read.”
The couple’s romance became official in 2021 after years of public speculation, though both actors had previously remained private about their relationship status. In a November 2021 interview with GQ, Holland spoke openly about the challenges of maintaining privacy under the public eye. “One of the downsides of our fame is that privacy isn’t really in our control anymore, and a moment that you think is between two people who love each other very much is now shared with the entire world,” Holland remarked.
Despite the pressures of fame, Zendaya and Holland’s relationship appears to have only grown stronger, both on and off the screen. Their shared experiences on set seem to have reinforced their bond, with Zendaya appreciating the “extra safe” feeling of working alongside someone she trusts so deeply.
