McDonalds has introduced new, plant-based McNuggets that are made from peas, corn, and wheat along with tempura batter called McPlant Nuggets.
It will be the second plant-based item that McDonald’s has offered. The Golden Arches has been selling a McPlant burger.
Unfortunately for U.S. vegetarians and vegans, the plant-based nuggets will only be offered in Germany. Germany will be the first market to get them starting next week
The fast-food giant McDonald’s spokesperson told the Associated Press that the future of the meat-free option for other countries depends on how well they do in Germany, where they will be available at all 1,400 McDonald’s locations.
However, The McPlant burger is now a permanent menu item in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Austria and the Netherlands.
Plant-based chicken began selling in U.S. groceries in 2021. It has also co-developed plant-based tenders and nuggets with other chains, including KFC and Panda Express.
