However, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli made a match-winning 165-run partnership, making assure that India doesn’t begin their World Cup journey with an awkward defeat in front of their home crowd.
Kohli contributed 85 runs while the wicketkeeper-batsman Rahul accumulated 97 runs, leading their team to a crucial victory.

The top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals, which will be played in Mumbai on November 15 and in Kolkata on November 16. The semi-finals and the final will have reserve days.
The champions of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 will acquire US$4 million. The runners-up will earn US$2 million, while the losing semi-finalists will receive $800,000 each from the total prize of US$10 million.
The winners of each game in the group stage will receive US$40,000 and the six teams that do not qualify for the semi-finals will acquire a payment of US$100,000.
