PCB considers playing ODI World cup matches outside of India

After the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) refused to visit Pakistan for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022, the relationship between Pakistan and India has been worsening.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that it is considering shifting its matches for the World Cup of 2023 to neutral venues after India chose to play at a neutral venue during the Asia Cup of 2023.

It has been reported that the PCB is working on a new procedure to be used during the upcoming marquee event in India, which would see Pakistan playing its matches at neutral venues instead of at its home ground.

In addition to this, the source added that the cricket board had reported to the ICC and the ACC about its recommendations, which could also be implemented during Pakistan’s hosting of the 2025 Champions Trophy.

India may oppose this procedure as it would mean that if Pakistan reaches the final, the match would be played outside India, potentially negotiating a serious impact on the Indian board if Pakistan makes it to the final.

There is a possibility that Sri Lanka or Bangladesh would host Pakistan’s 50-over matches of the ICC’s 50-over World Cup if the ICC approves the suggested formula.

Shahid Afridi stated last week that if the BCCI is not prepared to concern issues with the PCB, then it would impact the relations between the neighboring countries and even the events staged by the ICC.

The former Pakistani all-rounder said, I urge the BCCI to be careful not to make any decisions based on a single statement alone. I would advise them to talk to the PCB chairman at least once before making any decisions.
