US rapper Redveil called for a ceasefire in Gaza at the Camp Flog Gnaw music festival while projecting a list of names of Palestine’s children killed by Israeli attacks.
Footage from the festival circulating on social media shows the rapper indicating a lengthy, fast-scrolling list of names on the screen behind him.
The singer is heard saying, “Behind me is a list of names of Palestinians [that have] been killed in Gaza since October 7. Nobody on this f*****g list made it to the age [of] four.”
“It’s not complicated,” he said.
Redveil advised the crowd to call their state representatives and urge a ceasefire in the besieged enclave where more than 11,000 people have been killed, 40 percent of whom are children, according to the Gaza medical authorities. Before leaving the stage, he led the crowd in chants of “Free Palestine.”
Israel launched retaliatory attacks on Gaza after Hamas launched an incursion into southern Israel on October 7, killing around 1,200 people and taking more than 200 hostages, according to Israel’s tally.
Almost two-thirds of the people in the densely populated Gaza Strip have been made homeless by the Israeli military campaign, wherein it has ordered those living in the northern half of Gaza to evacuate to the south.
The Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival took place over the weekend at the Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California. It was broadcast on Amazon Prime and Twitch.
Several American singers and celebrities have spoken on the ongoing conflict, urging the protection of “innocent civilians.”
The industry, however, has been divided over their stance on the war, with some showing support to the Palestinian people and calling for an immediate ceasefire while others say they support Israel’s right to defend itself.
