In the upcoming annual Christmas speech by King Charles, it appears that both Prince William and Prince Harry will be notably absent. Last year, Prince Harry was left out of the speech, reflecting the strained relationship within the royal family. Now, there are indications that his estranged brother, Prince William, might also be omitted.
Royal expert Jennie Bond shared her insights with The Sun, expressing a strong belief that the monarch will steer clear of any political discussions. Moreover, she emphasized that any ongoing family drama is unlikely to be addressed on television.
“Charles wouldn’t address the challenges with Harry on TV. I doubt he’ll mention Harry at all,” Bond stated. “I don’t think he’ll mention William either, as he knows that will be seen as a dig to Harry.”
In the previous year, King Charles focused on acknowledging the passing of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, paying tribute to her extensive reign, and addressing the “great hardship” amid a cost-of-living crisis. He called for “peace and unity” during challenging times.
While Prince Harry was absent from the speech, Prince William and Kate Middleton received a mention, acknowledging their visit to Wales and their new titles, Prince and Princess of Wales. The upcoming speech is expected to maintain a similar tone, focusing on broader themes and avoiding direct references to the family rift.
