Prince William’s request for a lighter royal schedule has reportedly been rejected by King Charles, according to biographer Robert Jobson.
The Prince of Wales allegedly asked to reduce his official engagements to just ten for the remainder of 2024, but sources say the King urged him to reconsider. Amid a year marked by personal and royal challenges, Charles reportedly wanted to maintain continuity and provide reassurance to the public.
William’s request came during an emotionally intense period, with both his father and wife, Princess Catherine, dealing with health concerns.

In a candid conversation with comedian Eugene Levy on Apple TV’s The Reluctant Traveler, William admitted that while his official duties no longer overwhelm him, personal matters weigh heavily.
“You know, worry or stress around the family side of things that does overwhelm me quite a bit,” William confessed. “But in terms of doing the job and things like that, I don’t feel too overwhelmed by that.”
The heir apparent explained that age and experience have given him a sense of calm in his professional life, allowing him to manage unexpected challenges with ease. However, when it comes to family, even a future king can feel the strain.
“When it’s to do with family, that’s where I start getting a bit overwhelmed, as I think most people would,” he added. “It’s more personal, more about feeling… about upsetting the rhythm, if you like.”
Despite the emotional pressures, William continues to fulfill his royal responsibilities with dedication, balancing public duties with private family concerns, a reminder that even royals are not immune to life’s challenges.
