Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis benefit from an additional layer of protection as it’s widely known that the royal family has stringent security measures in place to safeguard their members
Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo was hired by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (then known as the Prince and Princess of Wales) in 2014 when Prince George was just eight months old.
She has remained with the family ever since, also caring for his younger siblings. Maria is a Norland Nanny, having completed her training at Norland College in Bath, Somerset.
According to the college’s official website, Norland Nannies undergo specialized security training conducted by former military intelligence officers.
This training covers various aspects, including online safety, handling potential security risks, and self-defense techniques taught by a highly respected 7th-degree black belt in tae kwon do.
The nannies participate in extensive self-defense workshops early in their training, which includes methods to protect children in buggies or prams and while walking.
Additionally, Norland Nannies receive specialized driving training, including skid pan exercises during their final year. This training equips them to handle adverse weather conditions, manage distractions inside the vehicle, and handle other potential hazards while driving.
Given the nature of her role and the identity of her charges, Maria likely received additional security training to align with the strict security protocols of the Cambridge family.
She has been seen wearing Norland College’s official uniform at various official family events, including Princess Charlotte’s christening.
