Prince William, the Prince of Wales, has officially confirmed his participation in the 2025 Earthshot Prize ceremony, which will be held at the iconic Museu do Amanhã in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This marks the first time the renowned environmental awards will take place in South America, signaling a significant milestone for the global initiative.
The announcement came during a special event titled ‘Leading with Impact’ held in the City of London on Tuesday, coinciding with London Climate Action Week. During the event, Prince William met with this year’s Earthshot Prize finalists and highlighted the importance of innovative solutions to tackle the climate crisis.
Earthshot Prize’s Global Journey
Launched in 2020 by Prince William, the Earthshot Prize has previously been hosted in major cities including London, Boston, and Singapore. The prize aims to discover and support revolutionary environmental projects with the potential to help save the planet.
The 2025 event in Rio will showcase a full programme of activities, culminating in the main ceremony where five winners will each receive £1 million to expand their impactful environmental work.
