Prince William has once again emphasized his commitment to environmental conservation, while his estranged brother, Prince Harry, finds himself in the midst of a controversy surrounding his former charity, Sentebale.
William’s Green Initiative
The Prince of Wales, known for his strong stance on environmental protection, has made significant strides since inheriting the Duchy of Cornwall in 2022 following King Charles III’s ascension.
On Monday, Kensington Palace shared a video highlighting William’s ongoing conservation efforts. The footage showcased volunteers planting 450 saplings on Dartmoor as part of a plan to double the size of Wistman’s Wood, one of the last remaining ancient temperate rainforests in Britain.
The palace captioned the video with a message:
“Last week, a group of volunteers joined forces to plant 450 saplings on Dartmoor, helping to recreate a resilient temperate rainforest for future generations.”

It further stated:
“These are the first trees planted as part of the Duchy of Cornwall’s plans to double the size of Wistman’s Wood – one of Britain’s last remaining ancient temperate rainforests.”
Prince Harry’s Charity Turmoil
While Prince William champions conservation, Prince Harry faces ongoing tensions surrounding Sentebale, the charity he co-founded in 2006 to support children affected by HIV and AIDS in Lesotho and Botswana.
Recently, Iain Rawlinson, a known ally of Prince William, was appointed as a Sentebale trustee on March 25—the same day Prince Harry announced his resignation from the organization.
Rawlinson, an experienced charity board director and conservation strategist, previously chaired Tusk Trust, a wildlife conservation organization closely associated with Prince William, from 2002 to 2013. His appointment has fueled speculation about potential changes within Sentebale’s leadership.
Adding to the controversy, Sentebale’s head, Dr. Sophie Chandauka, has accused Prince Harry of “bullying at scale”amid his departure, deepening the rift surrounding the charity.
Will Prince William Step In?
As Prince William continues to make strides in environmental conservation, questions arise about whether he will play a role in reshaping Sentebale, a charity once close to his brother’s heart.
With both princes charting different public paths, their contrasting priorities continue to make headlines, highlighting the growing divide in their royal journeys.
