Prince William Snubs BAFTAs, Chooses Film School Over Glitzy Awards Night

Prince William and Princess Kate will not be attending the 2025 BAFTA Film Awards, Kensington Palace has confirmed.

The Prince of Wales, who has served as BAFTA President since 2010, is choosing to focus on his commitment to nurturing the next generation of British filmmakers. While he was present at last year’s ceremony, William was never scheduled to attend this year’s event. Instead, he will make an appearance in a special video segment during the awards.

As part of his ongoing efforts to champion new talent, Prince William is set to visit the London Screen Academy in Islington on Wednesday. His visit will involve meeting with Year 13 students working on a collaborative filmmaking project, providing them with encouragement and gaining insight into their creative processes.

During his time at the academy, the royal will observe key aspects of film production, including hair and makeup artistry, costume design, and set construction. He will even step onto the set to assist in filming a scene for the student-led short film Melomania, highlighting his hands-on approach to supporting young talent.

Prince William’s decision to prioritize aspiring filmmakers over the high-profile BAFTAs underscores his dedication to fostering creativity and innovation in the British film industry. By actively engaging with students and promoting emerging talent, he continues to ensure that the future of British cinema remains bright.
