Prince William plans to completely bar his uncle, Prince Andrew, from royal life once he ascends the throne, according to recent reports.
The Prince of Wales, 43, is reportedly dissatisfied with his father King Charles III’s handling of the situation regarding Andrew, 65, who has faced intense scrutiny over his connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Sources tell The Sunday Times that William intends to ban Andrew from all public and private royal events, including state occasions and the upcoming coronation.
Prince Andrew Steps Back
On October 17, Andrew released a statement announcing he would no longer use his royal titles and honors, including the Duke of York. The decision, which followed discussions with King Charles and senior royal family members, comes amid renewed public interest in Andrew’s ties to Epstein.
“In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family,” Andrew said. “I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life.”

Andrew also confirmed that he will step further away by no longer using his titles or honors, although he continues to deny all allegations.
Impact on Sarah Ferguson and Royal Daughters
According to reports, Sarah Ferguson, Andrew’s ex-wife, will also be banned from royal events. Ferguson, 66, has remained close to Andrew and has faced her own controversies due to her connections to Epstein.
However, the royal titles and positions of Andrew and Ferguson’s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, will remain unaffected. William reportedly plans to include the princesses in royal events and family affairs once he becomes king.
Background on Prince Andrew’s Controversies

Andrew’s public fall began in 2010 due to his alleged links with Epstein, and the scrutiny intensified in 2015 after he was named in a civil lawsuit. Virginia Giuffre, previously Roberts, alleged that she was forced to have sexual encounters with Andrew when she was 17.
In January 2022, Queen Elizabeth stripped Andrew of his military titles and royal patronages amid the lawsuit. Andrew settled the civil case out of court in February 2022 for an undisclosed sum. Giuffre tragically passed away by suicide in April at age 41.
Looking Ahead
Prince William’s firm approach signals a generational shift in how the royal family handles scandals and public accountability. As king, William is expected to draw a clear line regarding members whose actions could overshadow or harm the monarchy’s reputation.
