Princess Anne continues to stand firm in her royal responsibilities, offering unwavering support to meaningful causes as the monarchy faces a period of transition.
On Wednesday, the Princess Royal carried out a significant royal duty on behalf of King Charles III, marking her commitment to healthcare advancements. She visited the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield to officially open the Princess Royal Spinal Injuries Centre, a landmark facility aimed at improving the lives of spinal injury patients.

The newly inaugurated garden space was developed by Horatio’s Garden, a renowned UK charity known for transforming spinal injury units into restorative sanctuaries. The garden’s design was inspired by the charity’s award-winning concept showcased at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show in 2023, bringing nature’s healing power to the heart of healthcare.
“It’s an incredible feeling; seeing patients explore this garden for the first time was one of the most moving experiences,” said Olivia Chapple, founder of Horatio’s Garden. “This marks the eighth therapeutic garden the charity has opened since our journey began in 2012.”
This event holds personal significance for Princess Anne, as the cause resonates within the royal family. Her niece, Princess Eugenie, is a dedicated patron of Horatio’s Garden and recently launched a similarly transformative outdoor space at Salisbury District Hospital earlier this year. Anne’s presence in Sheffield underscores her support not just for the charity, but also for Eugenie’s efforts in championing patient well-being.

The engagement comes amid growing speculation about internal royal tensions. According to a recent report by The Sunday Times, Princess Anne has allegedly expressed frustration over Prince William’s limited involvement in royal investitures, despite residing near Windsor Castle, where many of these ceremonies take place.
“She’s still doing most of the investitures even though William lives there. It annoys her,” a royal insider claimed.
Nevertheless, Anne remains one of the most active members of the Royal Family, earning widespread admiration for her tireless dedication and deep sense of duty. Her support for Horatio’s Garden highlights not only her compassion but also her influential role in ensuring that royal attention remains focused on impactful, patient-centered initiatives.
