Prince William recently shared a heartwarming and humorous story about his daughter, Princess Charlotte, and her reaction to his facial hair. While on a tour in South Africa, the Prince of Wales spoke candidly about the first time he grew a beard and how his young daughter’s response was far from pleased.
When asked if his family approved of his new look, William revealed, “Well Charlotte didn’t like it the first time. I got floods of tears when I first grew a beard, so I had to shave it off. Then I grew it back, and I thought, ‘Hang on a second,’ and I convinced her it was going to be okay.”
Despite the initial protest from his daughter, William admitted that he eventually managed to win Charlotte over with some convincing. It’s clear that this lighthearted moment with his daughter contrasts with the more serious and difficult challenges the Prince has faced recently.
During the same trip to South Africa, Prince William reflected on the hardships of the past year, particularly the struggles of supporting his wife, Kate, and his father, King Charles, through their respective cancer diagnoses. The Prince admitted that this year has been “probably the hardest” of his life.
“Honestly? It’s been dreadful,” William said, opening up about how tough things have been. “Trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult.” He expressed pride in how his wife and father have handled their health battles, adding, “But I’m so proud of my wife, and I’m proud of my father for handling the things they have done.”
William’s honest remarks shed light on the emotional toll these personal struggles have taken on him. Despite the overwhelming challenges, his gratitude for the strength shown by Kate and King Charles is evident. As the Prince continues to balance his family’s needs with his royal duties, this past year marks one of the most difficult chapters of his life.
