Rio Ferdinand, the former Red Devils defender, has associated the comparisons between Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City boss and Sir Alex Ferguson, the former Manchester United manager with the comparison of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Last season’s momentous Champion League win, which locked the treble for City, was 14th major honor of Guardiola at the Etihad’s seven seasons . By distinction, Sir Alex Ferguson bagged 38 trophies, including 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups, and two Champions League titles, with Red’s 26 seasons.
Following City’s outstanding level of win in recent seasons, expected comparisons between the two Manchester clubs’ most victorious managers have been drawn. But Ferdinand considers fans should not be forced to pick a favorite – and should rather just enjoy both famous bosses.
It’s like comparing Messi and Ronaldo. Why do we have to pick? Why is it ever that we’ve got to pick? When it’s greatness vs greatness, you’ve just got to appreciate it. I like them both for various causes, Ferdinand said, in an interview with Kick Game.
