In a groundbreaking move towards promoting inclusivity and gender diversity in the world of motorsport, Formula 1 has taken a momentous step by endorsing an all-women series. Hailed as a “landmark moment” by Susie Wolff, the F1 Academy chief, this revolutionary initiative will see each of the 10 F1 teams nominating a driver to participate in the series, set to begin in the upcoming season.

Currently, the F1 Academy collaborates with five teams – ART Grand Prix, Campos Racing, MP Motorsport, PREMA Racing, and Rodin Carlin – with each team operating three cars and drivers. Starting from 2024, 10 out of the 15 drivers from these teams will receive support from Formula 1 teams, opening up a world of opportunities for budding female talent in the motorsport industry.

The specific drivers and the liveries representing their respective teams in the series will be officially unveiled at a later stage, as per F1’s recent announcement.

Expressing her sincere appreciation, Susie Wolff, the F1 Academy chief, thanked the Formula 1 team for their steadfast support and collaborative efforts in bringing the historic all-women series to life. This groundbreaking decision not only showcases the extensive backing from the F1 community but also serves as a source of inspiration for young girls, empowering them to realize the diverse array of opportunities in the dynamic world of motorsport, both on and off the race track. With unwavering confidence, Wolff firmly believes that this transformative step will yield a positive and lasting impact on the sport as a whole.

Stefano Domenicali, the head of Formula 1, underscored the organization’s unwavering dedication to effecting significant and enduring change by empowering young female talent within the industry. He acknowledged the impressive momentum gained by the F1 Academy project and the overwhelming support from the entire F1 community. Domenicali perceives this momentous decision as a testament to the profound impact the initiative holds, and with continued commitment from individuals like Susie and the participating teams, they are resolute in reaching even greater milestones in the days ahead.

As the year 2024 draws near, the F1 Academy will take its place on the race calendar, elevating the series to unparalleled levels of global visibility and acclaim. Witnessing the prominent display of F1 liveries on the grid during the all-women series will mark a remarkable and emotionally resonant occasion, serving as a powerful symbol of unwavering dedication to promoting equality and inclusivity within the captivating realm of motorsport.

Formula 1’s groundbreaking choice establishes a compelling example for the motorsport industry, charting a course to empower female talent and guaranteeing aspiring young girls the chance to chase their dreams, both on and off the race track. With the all-women series materializing, the motorsport community rejoices in this significant step towards fostering a fair and equitable platform for all enthusiasts of the sport. The approaching season holds the promise of a historic and transformative voyage, heralding a new era of gender diversity in the exhilarating realm of Formula 1.
