Lionel Messi, the globally celebrated football superstar, and his wife, Antonella Roccuzzo, have ventured into the world of real estate with a significant investment—a luxurious waterfront mansion in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
This significant acquisition was orchestrated through a company under the watchful eye of Messi’s wealth manager, Alfonso Nebot, a development confirmed by official records and insider sources.
Since joining Inter Miami in July, Messi’s journey in the United States has been nothing short of extraordinary, marked by eight victories and four draws with the team. The Argentine icon, previously a cornerstone of FC Barcelona, achieved the pinnacle of success by leading his national team to victory in the World Cup championship last year. Currently, Messi is actively participating in the arduous 2026 World Cup qualifiers, with a highly anticipated match scheduled to take place in Bolivia.
The illustrious property, located at 91 Compass Lane, found its new owners in Messi and Roccuzzo, who purchased it from John and Stacy Dickerson for a notable $10.8 million. Remarkably, the Dickersons had acquired this estate just over a year earlier, in May, for $9 million, reflecting an impressive 20 percent appreciation in value over a relatively short span.
Perched on a generous 0.4-acre lot, the mansion unfolds over a lavish 10,500 square feet of living space, boasting a total of eight bedrooms and a substantial 170 feet of waterfront, complemented by two private docks. The residence is designed to offer an opulent lifestyle, featuring a waterfront pool, a fully equipped gym and spa room, and a state-of-the-art Italian kitchen. Property records from 2022 reveal that the house, originally constructed in 1988, underwent significant expansion in 2000. The primary suite, now owned by Messi and Roccuzzo, spans an impressive 1,600 square feet.
Positioned with strategic convenience, Messi’s new abode is situated merely 5 miles from Drive Pink Stadium and the adjacent training facility used by Inter Miami in Fort Lauderdale. While the team currently calls this location home, there are future plans for a potential move to Miami.
The ownership consortium of Inter Miami, featuring prominent Miami-based entrepreneurs Jorge and José Mas, legendary soccer figure David Beckham, and other key partners, has ambitious plans for the Miami Freedom Park project. This expansive development includes a diverse mix of uses and a soccer stadium set on the Melreese Country Club property, adjacent to Miami International Airport.
Messi’s association with Inter Miami is speculated to be valued between $50 million and $60 million, encompassing equity stakes in the team and lucrative revenue-sharing agreements with global giants like Adidas and Apple.
Interestingly, Sergio Busquets, a longtime teammate of Messi’s, who also made the move to Inter Miami, recently invested in a waterfront residence in Sea Ranch Lakes, securing the property for an estimated $8.7 million—another noteworthy addition to the team’s real estate portfolio.
In addition to these substantial investments, Messi’s real estate portfolio also includes ownership of three luxury condominiums in Sunny Isles Beach, with one of them located in the renowned Porsche Design Tower, a project that reached completion in late 2016 under the guidance of developer Gil Dezer.
As Messi continues to make headlines with his prowess on and off the pitch, his foray into the vibrant world of real estate in Fort Lauderdale serves as a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and enduring success.
