Adam Copeland aka Edge, WWE Hall of Famer, has made his shocking debut in the pay-per-view event of AEW, WrestleDream on Sunday.
The WWE contract of Copeland expired on Saturday which allowed him to make an appearance at rival promotion just 24 hours later and he did so with a thunderclap and jaw-dropping reaction from the audience.
After the successful TNT title defense of Christian Cage over Darby Allin in a two-of-three falls match, things turned unfavored when Cage – the long-time friend and former tag-team partner of Edge – attacked a helpless Allin in the ring.
But then, the lights went out, and a tweaked version of his iconic theme song Metalingus by Alter Bridge hits, sending the Seattle crowd into hysterics.
After stepping into the ring, the legendary wrestler looked as if he would be teaming with his longtime best friend Christian but instead attacked Nick Wayne and Luchasaurus as Christian ran.
It’s a huge signing for AEW who continue to deliver their financial strength in obtaining in some of wrestling prominent names to the promotion.
Edge has won the most championships in WWE history (31) and has completely cemented his iconic status with the biggest well-known brand.
The Wrestling icon has now carried the curtain down on his second run with the WWE, having been caused to retire in 2011 due to neck injuries.
