WWE Royal Rumble 2024, the premium live event marking the start of the Road to WrestleMania 40, took place at the Tropicana Field in St Petersburg, Florida.
The spotlight of the event was on the two headlining matches, featuring 30 participants each in the men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches.
In the 37th edition of the Royal Rumble, two Superstars had the chance to headline WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia, determined by the outcomes of the Royal Rumble matches.
Men’s Royal Rumble
It was Cody Rhodes, a former champion, who eliminated CM Punk to secure victory in the Florida match. This marked Rhodes’ second consecutive Rumble win.
Entering at number 15, he achieved a total of four eliminations, tying with Bron Breakker. Rhodes eliminated Shinsuke Nakamura, Gunther, Austin Theory, and ultimately Punk, who entered as number 27, earning him the opportunity to headline WrestleMania 40.
Women’s Royal Rumble
The winner was the former women’s champion, Bayley. Starting at number 3, she lasted an impressive hour and three minutes, eliminating seven other superstars to emerge victorious.
Alongside second entrant Naomi, Bayley endured the longest duration, and with the highest number of eliminations, including the final elimination of the 30th entrant Liv Morgan. She secured a chance to challenge the Women’s World Champion at WrestleMania.
