Malala Yousafzai, the internationally renowned female education activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner, has announced that she is working on a new memoir, which she says will be her most personal yet. This announcement comes nearly a decade after the publication of her first memoir, “I am Malala”, which was released shortly after her 16th birthday.
In her social media announcement, Malala expressed her excitement about sharing her experiences since the publication of her first memoir. She noted that the last few years of her life have been marked by an “extraordinary transformation”, which has led to her finding independence, partnership, and ultimately herself.
Malala graduated from Oxford University with a degree in philosophy, politics, and economics and is now married to Asser Malik, a general manager at the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Malala’s upcoming memoir will be published by Atria Books in the US, Weidenfeld & Nicolson in the UK, and other countries soon to be announced. She expressed her eagerness to take the next step in her journey with these incredible teams and share her story with the world.
Aside from her memoirs, Malala has also released a children’s book titled “Malala’s Magic Pencil” in 2017, illustrated by Sebastien Cosset and Marie Pommepuy. She also published a book on refugee experiences titled “We Are Displaced”, which was released in 2018 by Weidenfeld & Nicolson. Earlier this year, Malala became an executive producer of the Oscar-shortlisted documentary film “Stranger at the Gate”.
Malala first gained global attention in 2012 when she was shot by the Taliban while traveling to school in her home region of Swat Valley, Pakistan. Since then, she has become an advocate for education and human rights, working tirelessly to promote the importance of education for girls around the world.
