Colombo or Hambantota? ACC President Jay Shah put the Asia Cup Super 4 schedule in chaos

Jay Shah, the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has made a mockery of the Asia Cup 2023 after it appeared that the Super 4 games will be played in Colombo, as originally scheduled, instead of Hambantota.

Earlier, the ACC had decided to move all the Super 4 matches of the Asia Cup 2023 to Hambantota from Colombo as a long rain period is predicted in Colombo for the next 15 days.

The decision was taken after closely monitoring at the weather forecast and the chance of rain bothering the games. The decision was also conveyed to all associates of the ACC via email.

However, shortly after, the email was retracted with the ACC stating that the remaining matches would be played in Colombo as per schedule.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is disappointed with the one-sided decision by the ACC and has called for an urgent meeting to resolve the issue.

The PCB is encountering logistical problems due to the sudden shift in venue for the Asia Cup 2023 games, meanwhile, the players are also worried because of the absence of clarity over the upcoming games.

Shah, who is also the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), also made late modifications to the ICC World Cup 2023 schedule which led to criticism from cricketing circles.
