On Friday, International Cricket Council’s official World Cup broadcaster, Star Sports, revealed a promotional video, showing the captain of Pakistan, Babar Azam, as part of the prominent ‘Fab 5.’
This term ‘Fab 5’, originally coined by the legend Martin Crowe, late New Zealand cricket, refers to a batch of prominent international batsmen who have consistently dominated the cricketing sphere.
The list also featured well-known batters including Virat Kohli from India, Kane Williamson from New Zealand, Steve Smith from Australia, and Joe Root from England.
The video offers a captivating glimpse into the approaching ICC World Cup, which pledges to be an exciting competition of skill, technique, and sportsmanship. The addition of Babar Azam in the Fab 5 not only highlights his star performances but also reflects his growing impact and influence on the game.
It is worth noting that Babar Azam currently carries the No. 1 position in the ICC men’s rankings for batters in ODI cricket. The Pakistan skipper has scored 5370 runs in 106 ODIs, including 19 tons and 28 fifties. He has an amazing average of 59.01 under his belt.
The ODI World Cup will be hosted in India from October 5 to November 19, 2023.
