The unfinished business of Pakistan vs India on September 2 which was spoiled by rain, has a replica on September 10 but this time rain would not decide the result, because the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 clash has a reserve day.
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has decided to have a reserve day after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s reservations over the event’s schedule bearing in mind heavy rainfalls in Colombo.
If the India-Pakistan clash is not completed on September 10, it will continue, from the moment it was suspended due to any hurdle, on September 11.
However, the Pakistan-India clash is the only match in the Asia Cup that will have a reserve day.
The group stage game between both teams was also washed out on September 2.
The remaining games of the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 round will be played in Colombo, Sri Lanka, however bad weather is predicted to play spoilsport during the upcoming games.
Rainfalls are predicted daily in Colombo till September 17, according to The Weather Channel.
Pakistan beat Bangladesh by seven wickets on Wednesday to start their Super 4 campaign. If the remaining Super 4 games are washed out, Pakistan will qualify for the final with four points.
In the chance of washouts, Sri Lanka and India will be tied on three points each, along with the exact Net Run Rate, which is why a coin toss will decide which team will play the final.
Bangladesh will only have two points since they have already lost one match in the Super Four, in the chance of washouts, and thus will not be in the race for the final.
Both teams in the final will be shared between both teams if the final of the Asia Cup 2023 is also washed out on September 17.
