On Sunday, the presidential campaign of Donald Trump said that since the mugshot of Trump, the former US President, was released, the campaign has raised $7.1 million after he was indicted on racketeering and conspiracy charges at a Georgia prison this week.
Trump’s presidential campaign had swiftly embraced the staring photo of Donald Trump as the mark of his recommendation to hold back the White House in 2024.
Steven Cheung, a spokesman for Trump’s campaign said that proximate to $20m raised in the last 3 weeks, coinciding with the DC charge and Atlanta mugshot, $7.1m since Thursday and $4.18m yesterday (Saturday) alone, the most heightened grossing day of the whole campaign.
He added that organic money has soared, especially after former President Trump tweeted out the photo along with the website.
However, the AFP could not alone confirm the claims.
Cheung posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) and advised US media to “Please continue to show it.”
Within hours of release of the Trump’s mugshot, Trump’s team put out T-shirts, mugs, stickers, and beverage coolers bearing the mug shot.
Marketing specialists have even compared it to the “Hope” poster from Barack Obama’s victorious 2008 presidential campaign.
Democrats have also used it, however, saying that it indicates no one is above the law.
